Funeral service for Janice R. Barker, 75, will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2016, at 2 p.m. from Benefield Funeral Chapel with Bro. Matt Browning officiating. Burial will follow at Wedowee City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 - 7 tonight, February 17, 2016. Mrs. Barker passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016, at Clay County Hospital. Survivors include three stepsons, Jerry Barker, of Alaska, David Barker, of Border, Texas and Terry Barker, of Carrollton, Ga.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and three brothers, Steven Rice, of Lineville, Richard Rice, of Lineville and Emmett Rice, of Washington. A Clay County native, Mrs. Barker was born on March 11, 1940, the daughter of Charlie and Ida May Rice. She was a member of Rocky Branch Baptist Church and worked as a seamstress. Mrs. Barker was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Charlie Willingham and her second husband, Jerrell Barker. Online condolences may be expressed at www.benefieldfhwedowee.com.
