Jean Thrasher Abner, 89, died Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at Cleburne Co. Nursing Home. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today, December 19, 2015, at Dryden Funeral Home Chapel with the Dr. Wayne Stevens and the Rev. Chris Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Heflin City Cemetery. Dryden Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include her daughters, Jan (Danny) Easterwood, of Pell City, Donna (Denver) Thompson, of Douglasville, Ga.; grandchildren, Haley Easterwood, Marc Thompson, Joseph Thompson, Marsha Easterwood and Melissa Easterwood; great-grand children, Destinee, Skylar, Madison, Paysleigh and Harper; sister, JoAnne Kabase, of Clermont Fla.; sister-in-law, Nadine (Aaron) Wilson, of Gardenale; sister-in-law, Edna Abner, of Elkhart, Ind. and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Abner was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. G.K. Abner. Pallbearers will be Danny Easterwood, Denver Thompson, Marc Thompson, Joseph Thompson, Roger Easterwood and Jeff DeMarcus. Mrs. Abner, a native of St. Clair County, had resided in Cleburne County since 1950. She served for many years as Vacation Bible School Director in various churches and was very active in The Cleburne Baptist Association.
