A celebration of life for Mrs. Jeanette M. Crow, 61, of Eastaboga, will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 2013, at "The place she loved the most" The Crow Farm at 2080 Mudd St. Lincoln, Alabama 35096. Mrs. Crow passed away Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital. Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Allen Crow, District Judge Ret.; a daughter, Yevett Word; two grandchildren, Maggie Elizabeth Word and Westley Crockett Word; her mother, Virginia McKay; a brother, Dwight McKay and hundreds of students whose lives she touched throughout her teaching career. Mrs. Crow was an elementary school teacher in the Anniston City School System for 23 years where she was named The Elementary School Teacher of the year in 1991 by the Anniston City Board of Education. In addition to numerous other awards received throughout her career, she was named Teacher of the Year by The Alabama Conservancy. She was featured on Alabama Public Television for her innovative use of video in the classroom. Her passion was recycling, preserving natural resources and keeping Alabama Beautiful.
