Jerri Smith Lybrand, 79, of Anniston, passed away at RMC in Anniston, Alabama, on Saturday, May 2, 2015. Born November 25, 1935, in Centre, Alabama, she was a resident of Anniston for over 55 years. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, and received the Outstanding Young Woman of America Award in 1969. As an organizer and volunteer, she served as March of Dimes Area Chairman and in various roles with Leukemia/Cancer Societies, PTA, Boy Scouts, Jayceettes, MS, RMC Volunteer, her church, and more. She retired from Sunny King Volvo after 8 successful years as a sales representative. Survivors include her sister, Linda McKinney (Bill); her children, Stephen F. Lybrand (Lynn), Fred Ray Lybrand Jr. (Jody), Jerolyn Lybrand Sanders (Kenneth); and her seven grandchildren. Jerri was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Mabel Smith; her sister, Johnnie Anthony. Service will be held at 2 p.m. today May 5, 2015 at Anniston 1st United Methodist Church, 1400 Noble St. Burial will be held in private. The family will receive friends at the church from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. The Rev. Pete Hawker and the Rev. Amy DeWitte will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Anniston 1st United Methodist Music Ministry or the church general fund.
