Dr. Jerry Bryan Wilson, 75, of Troutman, N.C. died Wednesday, June 25, 2014. Born in Statesville, N.C. on April 28, 1939, he was the son of the late Stella Harmon and Paul Buford Wilson. In 1962 he married Miss Clyde Templeton, from Union Grove, N.C. who survives they have one daughter, Crystal Wilson (Brett) Buchanan; two grandchildren, Haley and Bradley Buchanan; sister, Margaret Wilson (Prissy) Armfield, of Clemmons, N.C. and two nephews, Albie and Paul Armfield. After graduating from Statesville Senior High in 1957, Jerry earned a B.A. from Wake Forest University and a Bachelor of Divinity degree from Duke University. He also attended Emory University where he received his PhD in Theology and Ethics. Dr. Wilson spent over 30 years teaching philosophy, ethics and logic at Jacksonville State University. Family and friends will gather for a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery in Statesville on Sunday July 13, 2014, at 2 p.m. Immediately following the service, everyone is invited to Adams Hall of First Baptist Church for refreshments provided by the Caring Committee. The family would like to express their appreciation to the Ellen Bellamy family for their loving care during Jerry's illness. Instead of flowers, memorials may be given to the Parkinson's Research Foundation at 5969 Cattleridge Blvd, Suite 100, Sarasota, Fl., 34232.
