A funeral service for Mr. Jerry Morgan, 69, of Oxford, will be at 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs with the Reverend Dr. Roland Brown and the Reverend Ray Lloyd officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home. Interment will be at 10 a.m. on Friday at Maple Grove Cemetery. Mr. Morgan died on August 25, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family. Mr. Morgan was born in Rome, GA and was a graduate of Wellborn High School. He retired from the Calhoun County Highway Department and was a member of Wayside Baptist Church. He was also an avid antique car enthusiast. Mr. Morgan is preceded in death by his parents, Willie Orville and Reba Minshew Morgan; a brother, Michael Lee Morgan; and a brother in law, Ralph Spoon. He is survived by his wife, Linda Morgan, of Oxford; a daughter, Tonya Sargent and her husband, Michael, of Oxford; two grandchildren, Michael Cameron Sargent and Carlie Alexis Sargent, both of Oxford; sisters, Deborah Johnson and her husband, Gary, Norfolk, VA, Shelia Richardson and her husband, Hank, of Centre, and Jean Spoon, of Piedmont, his appointed mother, Lillian Richardson, of Anniston; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Wilson and Louise Richardson, of Southside and JoAnn and Ralph Parkman, of Oxford; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be family and friends. The family wishes to thank the staff of Gentiva Hospice for their love and concern.
