Dobson, of Jacksonville; two daughters, Denise Kemmerer, of Southbury, Conn. and Michelle (David) Phillips, of Jacksonville, Fla.; three grandchildren, David Blake Phillips, of Tallahassee, Fla.; Miles Dobson Phillips, of Jacksonville, Fla. and Courtney Michelle Kemmerer, of Southbury, Conn.; one sister, Gay Christensen, of Woodstock, Ga.; one brother, Fulton Dobson, of Scottsboro and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Dobson was raised in Piedmont, Alabama and attended Georgia Tech University and Auburn University where he studied mechanical engineering. He worked at several positions in the area before retiring from Jacksonville State University. Mr. Dobson was a member of the Jacksonville Church of Christ where he attended faithfully. He was a great Christian friend who was only a phone call away if you needed help. Mr. Dobson loved the Lord and loved his country. He served his country in the US Air Force and the Air Force Reserves. In his spare time he enjoyed reading the Bible and was an incredible Bible scholar with a great knowledge of Bible history and scripture. Mr. Dobson enjoyed gardening, history and had quite a sense of humor. He had an unending array of old timers' sayings and his greatest enjoyment and pleasures came from his family whom he adored. Mr. Dobson was the greatest example of a father, husband and protector anyone could have asked for and will be deeply missed. The family would like to extend a special thanks to New Beacon Hospice for their devoted care and to Mr. Dobson's niece, Marian Battle, for her continued visits, special gifts and love. Mr. Dobson was preceded in death by his parents, Newton Wheeler and Ella Blanche Holbrook Dobson. Online condolences to the family at K.L. Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Center 322 Nisbet St., N.W.
