Jessie William Otwell, 88, died Friday, May 15, 2015, at Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 18, 2015, at Crumley's Chapel with the Rev. Neal Fowler officiating. Burial will follow in Crumley Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be today, May 17, 2015, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Dryden Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include his daughters, Judy (Tommy) Smith and Rita (Keith) Brooks; sons, Jessie (Mary) Otwell, Danny (Shelby) Otwell and Bobby Otwell; sister, Billie Ruth Skinner; 9 grandsons; 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Smith, Marcus Smith, Lynn Otwell, Richard Otwell, Timothy Brooks, Bobby Lee Otwell, Ryan Otwell and Austin Otwell. Mr. Otwell was a native of Cleburne County. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. during World War II and later joined the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Jessie retired from the Army after 24 years of service.
