The family of Mrs. Jewel H. Pate, 80, will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs. Mrs. Pate passed away on December 13, 2015 at NHC. Mrs. Pate was a native of Gordo, Ala. She managed the gift departments at Belk Hudson, then later Kitchin's Department Store. She went on to open the Kellwood Outlet in Heflin and managed it until she retired. She was a member of Heflin Baptist Church and a former member of the Pilot Club of Heflin. Her favorite hobbies were jewelry making and collecting recipes. She enjoyed baking and catering for her family and friends and loved The University of Alabama. Her family was the love of her life. Mrs. Pate is preceded in death by her parents, Homer Davis and Mamie Elizabeth Godfrey Harless; four sisters, Ruby Avery, Ruth Junkin, Frances Tuten and Gypsy Jean Harless; and a son-in-law, Cecil Barry Thrower. She is survived by a son, David Pate and his wife, Diane, of Rabun Gap, Ga.; two daughters, Denise Webb and her husband, Phil, of Anniston and Connie Thrower, of Anniston; Vincent Lee Webb and his wife, Laurel, Pamela Faith Pate, Sarah Blackwelder Stone and her husband, Tim, Logan Davis Darnell Pate, Jonathan Coleman Amason, Elizabeth Harless Thrower, Cecilie Hale Thrower and Savannah Rae Thrower; great grandchildren, Raygon Emma-Joy Amason, Weston William Stone, Emma Katherine Webb, Madeleine Grace Webb, Adilee Jayden Halle Thrower, and Kingston Liam Maddox Thrower; four sisters, Brenda Garner and her husband, Don, of Tuscaloosa, Linda Porter and her husband, Doug, of Ft. Collins, Colo. and Delores Dockery and her husband, Ronnie, of Northport, and Katheryn Davis, of Aberdeen, Miss. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Anniston Soup Bowl, 1516 Moore Avenue, Anniston, AL 36201. Online condolences may be made to the family at K.L.
