Funeral service for Mr. Jim Dopson, 80, will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2015, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 11, 2015, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Dopson went home to be with the Lord on November 9, 2015 at his home. He is survived by his children, Greg Dopson (Amy), Kim Dopson Rooks (Kyle), Wesley Dopson (Shelley), Clay Dopson (Brittni), Courtney Dopson Headrick (Mark), Braxton Dopson, Irelyn Dopson, Michael Meyers, Debbie Wright; grandchildren, Kylie Rooks, Chandler Jones, Alex Dopson, Macy Dopson, Morgan Jones, Kayla Rooks, Kane Rooks, Kendall Rooks, Braylnn Headrick, Zoey Headrick, Justin Dopson, Tyler Dopson, Jacy Dopson, Zach Gilliam, Ashley Gilliam, Hailey Dopson, Jameson Dopson; great-grandchildren, Braylee Jones, Grayson Rooks, Rory Catherine, Josh Gilliam; sisters, Maxine Loadholtz and Patsy Regan; brother, Edd Dopson; close friend and companion, Annette Dopson; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. He is preceded in death by his father, Jim Dopson Sr.; mother, Margie Clements; brother, Tony Dopson; sisters, Jenny Jackson and Sherry Payne. Pallbearers will be Mark Headrick, Tyler Dopson, Justin Dopson, Jimmy Scott, Donald Mezik, Chandler Jones, Zach Gilliam, Kane Rooks. Mr. Dopson was a well known business man in North East Alabama. He opened the Alabama Show Palace in 1981 and brought live entertainment to the area. He was a very wise, witty and charming man who loved and cherished his family more than anything, especially his "Angel Baby's", Braxton and Irelyn. He was a very charitable man and was willing to help out anyone, even before his own needs. Mr. Dopson dedicated his life to the Lord and was baptized a few weeks ago. The family would like to give a special thank you to Southern Care Hospice and to Amy Dopson for all of their love, care and support during this time.
