A memorial service for Mrs. Joanne Wright Allen, 82, will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church of Anniston with David Hodnett officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Mrs. Allen passed away on November 16, 2016 at Noland Hospital. Mrs. Allen graduated from Anniston High School and attended Ursuline College in New Orleans before graduating from The University of Alabama where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. For a number of years, she taught English at Saks Elementary School. She was a supporter of the Anniston Museum of Natural History and of animal rescue organizations. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Anniston. She was also a participant in Junior League of Anniston-Calhoun, Inc. and in Revelers. She was fond of dogs, literature, and good food. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank Joseph Wright and Anne S. McCall and a sister, Patricia W. Adams. Mrs. Allen is survived by her husband of 25 years, Van Allen, of Anniston; her daughters, Patricia Anne Klinefelter and her husband, Michael Alan Dorman, of Durham, N.C., and Jeanne Marie Klinefelter Wilson, of Houston, Texas and her children, Sean Ryan Wilson, Nicolas Harfield Wilson; a son, Christopher Wright Klinefelter and his wife, Whitney, of Omaha, Neb., and their children, Christopher Wright Klinefelter, Jr., Anna Elizabeth Klinefelter, and Audrey Marie Klinefelter; a niece, Virginia S. Warner of Lawrenceburg, Ind. and a nephew, Samuel Burney Pollock III, of Gadsden. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to S.A.V.E., PO Box 2246, Anniston, AL 36202, or the League for Animal Welfare, 2726 Bynum Leatherwood Rd, Anniston, AL 36201.
