A funeral service for Mr. Joe Glass, 82, will be Sunday, March 6, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Asberry Baptist Church with the Rev. William Cain and the Rev. Frank Haynie officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church this evening from 5-8 and one hour prior to the service on Sunday. Mr. Glass went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 3, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Waddell Glass, of Jacksonville; one daughter, Belinda (Stephen) Johnson, of Jacksonville; sons, Bryce Glass, of Piedmont, Barry (Christie) Glass, of Jacksonville, Bret (Barbie) Glass, of Jacksonville, and Bryan (Heather) Glass, of Boaz; one sister, Betty Kelley, of Piedmont; one brother, Ladon "Don" Glass, of Montgomery; seven grandchildren, Chad (Sara) Glass, of Nashville, Tenn., Candace (Brandon) McLeod, of Ohatchee, Whitney Glass, Holly Johnson and Erika Glass, all of Jacksonville, and Ty Glass and Jody Glass, both of Boaz; two great-grandchildren, Hoover Glass, of Oxford and Millie Kate McLeod, of Ohatchee; two step-grandchildren, Baylee Nixon and Dalton Nixon, both of Boaz; and one step-great-grandchild, Madison Berry of Nashville, Tenn.; numerous nieces and nephews; and his four-legged babies, whom he called "his boys", Milo, Cooter and Shag. Pallbearers will be Bryce, Barry, Bret and Bryan Glass, Stephen Johnson and Chad Glass. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class at Asberry Baptist Church. A native and lifelong resident of Jacksonville, Mr. Glass was a member of Asberry Baptist Church and their Senior Adult Sunday School Class. Mr. Glass served his country in the U.S. Navy for four years. He was a wonderful and devoted husband, father and grandfather and loved serving his Lord and Savior. In his spare time, Mr. Glass enjoyed fellowshipping with family and friends and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Mr. Glass was preceded in death by his parents, James Ernest and Vera Hughes Glass; and three sisters, Dorothy Ettlemyer, Louise Hammonds and Earline Nix.
