Mr. Joe L. Cheatwood went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday morning, November 1, 2016, at his residence surrounded by his family. Joe was 90 years young, born, September 1, 1926 in Cleburne County. He was a Christian and a member of Parkview Methodist Church. Joe was a WW II veteran, an avid golfer, fisherman, and coached and played softball. Service for Mr. Cheatwood will be at 3 p.m., Friday, November 4, 2016, at Miller Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 2 - 3 p.m. before the service. The Rev. Burgess Austin will be officiating. Joe is survived by his wife of 67 years, Joyce Wade Cheatwood; son, William "Wayne" Cheatwood; daughter, Elaine Thomas Cheatwood; granddaughters, Brandy Cheatwood, of Oxford, and Kelly Cheatwood, of Jacksonville; grandsons, Chris Cheatwood, of Jacksonville, and Kevin Cheatwood, of White Plains; three great- grandchildren, Spencer Goodwin, Conner Cheatwood and Mackenzie Ward. Joe was preceded in death by his sons, Jody Wade Cheatwood and Wallace Lee Cheatwood; grandson, Thomas "Tommy" Wade Cheatwood; parents, Willie and Ava Cheatwood; six sisters, and four brothers. Pallbearers will be Mike Austin, Chris Ball, Bob Shaw, Larry Hollingsworth, James Cheatwood and Gary Austin. Honorary pallbearer will be Sonny Henderson.
