Graveside service for John A. Jennings, 86, will be 12 p.m. Monday, January 26, 2015, at Anniston Memorial Gardens. Mr. Jennings passed away on Friday in Oxford. Survivors include his daughter, Linda Reaves; sister, Dena Noles; four grandchildren, Jonathan Reaves, Jennifer Ellis, Kim Phillips and Christopher Jennings; eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Jennings is preceded in death by his wife, Merlene Jennings; son, Alan Jennings; mother, Georgia Jennings; brother, Norris Jennings and sister, Shirley Hall. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Mr. Jennings was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Jennings was a construction worker for most of his life. He was a contributor in building the commercial buildings in the Anniston area. Mr. Jennings retired from the Oxford Board of Education. He was a U.S. Army veteran.He was a loving grandfather and great-grandfather who he adored and loved. Mr. Jennings will be missed by all who knew him.
