John Dewey Fulmer, 93, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2014. Born in Alexandria on October 16, 1920, Mr. Fulmer was a lifelong resident of Calhoun County. After 43 years of service in the foundry industry, he retired from Union Foundry in 1985. He enjoyed spending time with his family and visiting any kind of antique sale. He also enjoyed the outdoors, working in his yard and raising livestock and poultry for sale and show. He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Thelma Fulmer, of Weaver; son and daughter-in-law Howard and Janette Fulmer, of Weaver; daughter Julia Gurley, of Marietta, Ga.; brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Sandra Fulmer, of Canyon Lake, Calif.; brother, William Fulmer (Battle Creek, Mich.; granddaughters, Michelle Newsome, Danielle Rose, Stephanie Powell and LaDana Fulmer; grandson, Lee Fulmer; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Lee Fulmer, mother, Elizabeth Mae Fulmer and brothers, Orbie Fulmer and Lewis Fulmer. A graveside service open to family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014, at 1 p.m., at Anniston Memorial Gardens.
