John Francis Rosier III, 76, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2017. John is survived by his wife, Helen Vaughn Rosier; children, Mark Avery Rosier (Pam), Buford, Georgia, Steven Alan Rosier (Denise), Maylene, Alabama, John Michael Rosier, Jacksonville; grandchildren, Erin, Caitlin, Brandon, Justin, Jordyn, and Jackson; sisters, Carolyn Hanley, Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan, and Suzanne Rosier, Bloomfield Township, Michigan. John served his country 27 years with honor and distinction attaining the rank of Command Sergeant Major. Among his stateside assignments were: Brooke Army Medical Center, Ft. Sam Houston, Texas, William Beaumont Hospital, EL Paso, Texas, Camp Leroy Johnson, New Orleans, Louisiana, Red Stone Arsenal, Huntsville, Alabama, Noble Army Hospital and the 4th Combat Support Hospital (CSH), Ft. McClellan, Alabama, and Letterman Army Medical Center, SanFrancisco, California. Overseas assignments included: 2 years in Vietnam with the 2nd Surgical Hospital, Ankhe, Vietnam, and the 25th Infantry, Cuchi, Vietnam, where he was a recipient of the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, a Presidential Unit Citation, and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation Badge with Palm among several other decorations; also, Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE), Belgium, and Inspector General Office, Tripler Army Medical Center, Honolulu, Hawaii. Graduate of the Sergeant Majors Academy, El Paso, Texas, and the Inspector General Course, Washington, D.C. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by his parents John F. Rosier, Jr. and Rosemary Bresnahan Rosier. Visitation will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Jacksonville, on Friday, November 24, at 11:00 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 12:00 noon. Interment will be held at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery, Southfield, Michigan, with full military honors at 10:00 a.m., December 9, 2017.
