A visitation for John W Johnson, 56, will be Monday, October 20, 2014, from 6 till 8 p.m. at the Miller Event Center. Mr. Johnson passed away on Tuesday at Regional Medical Center. Born July 12, 1958 in Framingham, Massachusetts. He is survived by his wife, Sara Johnson; daughter, Heather (Dustin) McKleroy; granddaughter, Lindsey McKleroy; brother, William Johnson; aunt, Margaret King; nieces, Maggie Johnson and Betsy Anderson and multiple cousins. John will also be missed by close companions, Sydney and Peggy. John embraced life, working at Fed Ex in spite of being on dialysis and status post liver transplant. He was determined to not let "a little thing like that " keep him down. John was also a great husband, dad, and Grampy. John enjoyed the Atlanta Braves and the Boston Red Sox and considered a match - up between the two a win win situation. He was also a fan of hockey. John was known to spend nearly much time discussing the merits of the Boston Bruins with some of his doctors as he was being examined. An avid newshound and a man of affiant opinos. John was frequent contributor to WDNG talk radio and editorial page of the Anniston Star. His favorite past time, however, was time spent with Lindsey, with whom he shared a special bond. The family would thank the staff at UAB MICU and Stepdown, and the awesome staff at RMC Anniston 8th floor nursing unit for their kind and compassionate care. A special thanks to Dr. Mohammed Shubair for being there for John's family. The family request no flowers or plants. Donations may be made to be an organ donor at alabamaorgancenter.org and let your loved ones know of your decision. Or donations may be made to the RMC Memorial Foundation, PO BOX 2208 Anniston, AL 36202. www.millerfuneralhomeoxford.com Miller Funeral Home & Crematory Oxford, AL (256) 831-4611 A Brown Service Authorized Funeral Home.
