Funeral service for Mrs. Johnnie K. Sorrells, 98, will be Friday, February 3, 2017, 1 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home. The Rev. Scott Smith will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday from 12 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Sorrells passed away on Tuesday at Diversicare Nursing Home. Survivors include her daughter, Ginger Stone; stepsons, Hugh Sorrells, Bobby Richard Sorrells; 19 grandchildren, 27 great- grandchildren, over 28 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jim Stone, David Whittaker, Dan Flynn Sr., Chris Heinen, Dan Flynn Jr., Scott Flynn, Bobby Stone and Tyler Stone. Mrs. Sorrells was a native of Oklahoma. She lived and worked the majority of her life in California, and was retired from Bank of America. When she retired from Bank of America, she moved to Alabama. She was known as Me-Maw by all her loved ones, as well as, many children for whom she provided child care services. Mrs. Sorrells enjoyed crocheting gifts for her family and friends. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Mrs. Sorrells was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Sorrells; son, Teddy K Copper, and a daughter, Polly Bass.
