Service for Johnnie Mae "Granny" Roland, 55, will be Friday at 12 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with Michael Lackey and Diane Roland officiating. Burial will follow at Thomas Cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Roland passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at RMC Jacksonville. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Robert Roland, of Piedmont; three children, April Lackey (Michael), of Ft. Payne, Lisa Lucas, of Piedmont and Anthony Roland, of Oxford; four grandchildren, Christian Lackey, Brianna Jones, Sarah Chastain and Caitlin Roland; two sisters, Kaye Rowland (Steve), of Piedmont and Faye White (Gene), of South Carolina; three brothers, Gene Williams, of Anniston, Jerry Williams (Judy), of Atlanta, Ga. and Jimmy Williams, of Cartersville, Ga., and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Bubba Hardin, Justin Rowland, Shea Rowland, Dwayne Bradley, Brice Smith and Josh Roland. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters. Mrs. Roland was a lifelong resident of Piedmont and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and working in her flowers. Not only were her precious grandchildren taught from the "Granny School of Knowledge", but also other children she kept throughout the years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Helen Bennett; five sisters, and one brother. thompsonfuneralhome-
