Funeral service for Mr. Johnny Lyle, 68, of Piedmont was held Monday, March 30, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Stewart and the Rev. Jack Morgan officiating. Burial with military honors followed at Piedmont Memory Gardens. Mr. Lyle passed away March 28, 2015 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara Grissom Lyle, of Piedmont; one son, Scotty Grimes (Cayce), of Piedmont; three granddaughters, Savannah Grimes, Lexy Goss and Grayce Goss, all of Piedmont; one sister, Darlene Goss, of Panama City, Florida; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Lyle and Betty and Melvin Wood; two brothers, Larry Lyle and Lance Wood. Pallbearers were family and friends.A native of Piedmont, Mr. Lyle served in the United States Marine Corps and was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church. He worked for Young Oil Company for over 15 years. In 1988 he began working at the Anniston Army Depot and retired in 2006.
