Jon Stephens, 79, passed away, April 29, 2017. He was born on October 24, 1937 in Gadsden to Henry and Christine Stephens. He married Inez Smith on September 26, 1959 in Ohatchee. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 58 years, Inez Stephens; daughters, Kelly Lynn Stephens and husband, Greg Argyle, of Haslet, Texas; Karen Leigh Stephens and husband, Kevin Jamison of Dallas, TX; granddaughter, Alexandra Driskill, of Dallas, Texas; sister, Betty Green and husband, Baird Green, of Odessa, Texas; two nieces, Susan Williams and Chris Stephens; two nephews, David Green and wife, Loretta, and Richard Stephens. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Christine Stephens, of Alabama, and brother, Lamar Stephens, of Florida. Jon served in the U.S. Navy as a Electronic Technician. He was a Machinist & Tool & Die Maker for about 40 years, and retired from Bell Helicopter Textron. He loved working with his hands and could repair almost anything. Upon retirement he opened AMAR Tool & Machine in Arlington. He also liked machine woodworking, making many lovely items. Memorial service will be held 11 a.m., today, May 9, 2017, at Woods Chapel Baptist Church of Arlington. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Woods Chapel Baptist Church would be appreciated. Burial will be at a later date in the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
