Anniston - Joseph Robert "Joe" York, 63, died Sunday at NHC Nursing Home where he resided for the past several years. Joe was born in Oneonta, Alabama and grew up in Choccolocco. He was predeceased by his parents, Charlie Paul and Edna York, and his sister, Joy June Stack. He is survived by his brother, Jerry (Geraldine) York, of Oxford. In dealing with Joe's developmental disability, his parents were instrumental in the founding of what is now The Arc of Calhoun and Cleburne Counties. Joe worked at The Opportunity Center and Action Industries. He was a fun-loving, likeable fellow. If you knew him, you loved him. To the staff at NHC sincere appreciation for the special loving care Joe received while he was there. Funeral services will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Forestlawn Gardens Chapel. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary. Online condolences made at www.graybrownservice.com.
