Joseph Wayne Hodges, 60, of Hurt died Monday, April 21, 2014, at his residence. Born May 24, 1953. He was the son of the late Elmer Joseph (Jack) Hodges and Pattie Shelton Hodges. He was predeceased by two brothers; Jackie Hodges and Dennis Hodges. Mr. Hodges was an account manager with Valspar Corp, and a U.S. Marine Veteran. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Barksdale Hodges, of the residence; one daughter, Danielle Belinski, of Baltimore, Md.; one step-daughter, Marissa Shehee and her husband Derek, of Elmore, Ala.; one step-son, Heath Blessard, of Altavista; two brothers, Stanley Hodges and his wife, Linda, of Wytheville, and Carey Hodges, of Cary, N.C.; one sister, Nancy Lambert, of Bishopville, S.C.; two grandsons, Braxton Blessard and Truett Shehee; a special niece, Brooke Hodges, of Cary, N.C.; and his dogs Chester and Maggie. A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at Colbert-Moran Chapel by the Rev. Carlton R. Gunter. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 6 - 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, attention Tribute Programs, P.O. Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, Tenn. 38148 or to the Campbell County Humane Society, P.O. Box 659 Rustburg, Va. 24588. Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, Gretna is assisting the family.
