Graveside service for Joyce Bannister Mathis, 84, will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Mathis passed away Thursday in Oxford. Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Baker, of Anniston; sisters, Linda Sprayberry, of Anniston, and Mary Halliday, of Eastaboga; grandson, Joseph Baker; great-grandchildren, Alissa Wood, Chandler Brock and Logan Baker; niece, Shelia Gann; nephews, Clinton Sprayberry and Clayton Sprayberry; several great-nieces and nephews, and several lifelong friends. Mrs. Mathis is preceded in death by her mother, Cleo Cadenhead; father, Russell Bannister; step-father Farron Cadenhead; sister, Jean Vaughn; nephew, Darrell Vaughn; brother-in-law Hulon Vaughn. Pallbearers will be Johnny Sprayberry, Clayton Sprayberry, Keith Gann, Rusty Gann, Christopher Gann, Joseph Baker. Mrs. Mathis was longtime resident of Calhoun County. She retired from FMC and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a collector of antiquities. In Lieu of Flowers memorial may be made to of the Hospice of your choice.
