Services for Joyce H. Allred, 89, will be Sunday, December 10, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Piedmont Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service beginning at 12:00 p.m. Mrs. Allred passed away Wednesday, December 06, 2017 at RMC in Anniston. Survivors include two daughters, Elaine Allred of Piedmont and Denise Montgomery (Ed) of Texas; two sons, Larry Allred (Diana) of New Mexico and Tom Allred (Amy) of Anniston; grandchildren, Meagan Allred, Lauren Allred, Jason Allred (Jennifer), Sara Allred, Jenny Allred, Drew Allred, Josh Allred (Amanda), Rachel Montgomery, Andrew Montgomery, Josepha Montgomery, Michele Allred, and Nicole Allred; great grandchildren, Isabella Allred, Bryce Allred, Indiana Allred, and Dashel Allred; one brother, Tex Raymond Hughes (Delores) of West Virginia; sister in law, Martha Coley (Billy); brother in law, Broughton Allred; nieces Donna Kay, Lisa, Susan, Martha, and Margarette; nephews, Jim, Donald, and Jeff; and special nephew, Howard E. Hall. Mrs. Allred was born in West Virginia, and resided in Piedmont, where she attended Spring Garden School. She worked at the Cotton Mill, the Anniston Army Depot, and a Naval Base in Florida during World War II. When she married, she became an Army Wife and raised five children all over the world. She loved reading, gardening, and spending time with her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Mrs. Allred was preceded in death by her husband, William M. Allred LTC Retired; one son, Rodney V. Allred; parents, Edgar and Nettie L. Evans Hughes; sister, Alice L. "Polly" Hall; brothers, Douglas Hughes and Donald R. Hughes; and grandparents, George "Doc" Evans and Mary Elizabeth Freeman. Flowers may be sent or memorial contributions may be made to Piedmont Rescue Squad, P.O.
