A Memorial Service for Mrs. Judy Carter, 68, of Piedmont, will be at 4 pm on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Bethel Family Worship Church with Pastor Sherry Donaldson officiating. Mrs. Carter passed away on January 6, 2018 at her residence. Mrs. Carter worked for Standard Coosa Thatcher from 1976 - 1996. She went on to pursue her Associate's Degree from Gadsden State Community College. After graduation, she worked for Xerox and retired in 2012. Following retirement, she had time to pursue things she truly loved like spending time with her family, gardening, and traveling. She always knew how to make everyone laugh and lit up the room whenever she walked in. Mrs. Carter was a member of Bethel Family Worship Church. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Mrs. Carter is preceded in death by her parents, Don and Patricia Brattain; an aunt, Velma Payne; two brothers, Comer Brattain and Jerry Brattain; and a sister, Linda Brattain. She is survived by her husband, Loyal Carter, of Piedmont; a daughter, Sharon (Cameron) Hitchcock, of Piedmont; a son, Robert (Cindy) Carter, of Pleasant Valley; grandchildren, Emily (Tyler) Pentecost, Randy Pierce, Ben (Destiny) Carter, and Will Carter; two great grandchildren, Carter Pierce and Neal Pentecost; a sister, Dale Brattain, of Biggs, CA; and a uncle, Dr. Robert "Uncle Bob" Davis (Jean) of Sacramento, CA. The family wishes to thank Dr. Akisanya, Hallie McKnight, CRNP, Dr. Castillo and staff, UAB Oncology Department, Pastor Sherry Donaldson and their church members, Kevin Pierce and family, and the staff of Southern Care New Beacon Hospice.
