Mrs. Kathleen E. "Kathy" Sedenik, 65, passed away to be with her Lord on Saturday, October 1, 2016, at her residence. Kathy was born in South Bend, Indiana, to the late Phyllis Fusick O'Connor Huys and John O'Connor. On August 8, 1970, she married Mark Sedenik in South Bend. They shared 46 wonderful years of marriage together. Surviving Kathy is her husband, Mark Sedenik, of Anniston; her son, Stephen Sedenik, of Anniston; her daughter, Jessica Miller (Jon), of Anniston; grandchildren, Matthew, Summer, William, Addison, Taylor and Noah; great- grandchildren, Brody and Peyton Sedenik; sisters, Colleen Milling of Clarksville, Tenn., and Melissa DeFauw (Danny) of Osceola, Indiana; brothers, Martin O'Connor, of South Bend, Indiana, Bob Kester, of Auburn, Indiana, David Kester of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Donald Huys Jr. of South Bend, Indiana; numerous nieces and nephews; her two beloved best friends, Sandy Bernardi and Dot Ping. Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend - all whom she cherished. She also devoted her time volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, Gentiva and Alacare Hospice, American Red Cross, and Beckwood Manor Nursing Home. She had a servant's heart and a love for helping others. She opened her heart and home to help animals, especially for those needing loving homes. Kathy was a former secretary at Jacksonville First United Methodist Church and an administrative assistant at State Farm Insurance. The family would also like to express their gratitude to Gentiva Hospice Care and to Dr. Lattuada and the 4th Floor Oncology staff at NE Alabama Regional Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 5 - 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2016, at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs.
