Katie Mae Turner, 91, died Monday, August 25, 2014, at Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2014, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Morris and the Rev. James Owens officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be today, August 27, 2014, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Survivors include her daughters, Katie Jo Simmons and Mary Evelyn Cheatwood, both of Heflin; son, J.D. Turner, of Carrollton, Ga., Larry Nolen Turner and Stanley Ray Turner, both of Heflin and Roger David Turner, of Memphis, Tenn.; sister, Myrtle (James) Barnwell, of Delta; half brothers, John Phillips, Cecil Phillips, Nathan Phillips and Roger Phillips; 15 grandchildren and 25 great- grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Roger Phillips, Nathan Phillips, Josh Turner, Dustin Turner, Landon Taylor Mcelroy, Greg White, Christopher Allen Cheatwood and Baydon Sullivan White. Mrs Turner was a lifelong resident of Cleburne County. She was a member of Verdons Chapel Baptist Church. Mrs. Turner was a great singer and an excellent seamstress who also loved to garden. She loved God and life and her life was her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Turner; parents, Daniel and Gertrude Phillips; sister, Euline Phillips and a half brother, Bill Phillips. Dryden Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
