Funeral service for Mr. Ken Vaughan, 72, will be 2 p.m. Monday, November 9, 2015, at The First United Methodist Church in Lineville with the Rev. Ricky Ruston, the Rev. Don Cross and the Rev. Dorothy Ann Webster officiating. Interment will follow in the Lineville City Cemetery. Mr. Vaughan passed away Friday, November 6, 2015, at the Clay County Hospital. He was born in Jefferson County and graduated from Glen Vocational High School in 1961. After graduation, Ken served in the United States Marine Corp. Following his honorable discharge, he went on to the University of Alabama in Birmingham and graduated with an Accounting Degree in 1973. He was a lifelong banker who began his career in Jefferson County. Mr. Vaughan moved to Lineville in 1975 to begin his 35 year career with FirstState Bank where he rose through the ranks and ultimately became Chairman, President and CEO. He attended numerous banking schools and served on several banking boards in Alabama and across the United States. Ken was an avid Alabama football fan and loved showing his Alabama memorabilia. He is survived by his wife, Ann Vaughan; his daughter, Kristin Harville (David), of Lincoln; his son, Kevin Vaughan, of Lineville; two grandchildren, Abigail Harville and Corey Daugherty; one sister-in-law, Barbara Timbes, of Lineville; one brother-in-law, Carl Huddleston Jr., of Lineville and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawson Dean Vaughn and Flossie Mae Gann Vaughn and his dear friend and co-worker, Robert Williamson. Pallbearers will be Carlton DeVaughn, John Brock, Jim Jordan, Lamar Carmichael, Danny Mitchell, George Simpson and Stan Nelson. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Jackson, Russell Carothers, Jim Black, Dr. George C. Smith Sr., Dr. Buddy Smith, Grady Turner, Gerald Dial, Wendall McLain, Mark Griffin, Johnny Appleby, Howard Williamson and Ronnie Sudduth. The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland tonight, Sunday, November 8, 2015, from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Mr. Vaughan will lie in state at the church on Monday from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. Send on-line condolences to
