Funeral service for Kenneth H. Conn, 87, will be Friday, September 19, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Moye officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Nances Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 6-8 p.m. Mr. Conn passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at his home. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Frances Conn, of Nances Creek; a son, Elisha Conn and his wife Penny, of Nances Creek; three grandchildren, Laney Conn, Maddyn Conn and Sawyer Conn, all of Nances Creek; a nephew, Lamar Conn and his wife Karen, of Guntersville and a great nephew, Ethan Conn, of Guntersville. Pallbearers will be Lamar Conn, Justin Amberson, Keith Penny, Clint Cheatwood, Jerry Thacker, Bobby Tucker, Kenneth Frost and Randall Roberts. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Crosby, Tim Holbrook and the men of the First United Methodist Church of Piedmont. Mr. Conn was a native of Blount County and had been a resident of Calhoun County for over 50 years. He retired from the United States Army with 20 years service. While in the Army he served as an aircraft mechanic crew chief and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. After his retirement from the Army he was employed until his second retirement as an electrician at the Anniston Army Depot. Mr. Conn was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Piedmont, enjoyed cattle farming, and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lisha and Mattie Conn and a brother, G.B.Conn.
