Houston, Texas - Kevin M. Weldon, 35, of Houston, Texas, died unexpectedly on Friday, August, 14 2015, in Houston. Kevin is survived by his loving wife, Catherine Goble Weldon; his parents, Waltraud Maria Dobner and George Wesley Weldon; sister, Cora Weldon Martin, along with her husband, Christopher, son, Landon, and daughter, Chloe; sister, Tanja Weldon Carrillo, along with her husband, Victor, and son, Adam; parents-in-law, Virginia Zabriskie Goble and Christopher B. Goble; brother-in-law, Christopher; countless family and friends in Texas and his childhood home in Alabama. Born in Augsburg, Germany, on April, 15 1980, Kevin grew up in Oxford. An accomplished athlete, Kevin declined an opportunity to play professional baseball after graduating from Oxford High School in 1998 in order to attend college. After obtaining an undergraduate degree from The University of Alabama and an MBA from Auburn University Montgomery, Kevin began work in the energy industry. Kevin's career path in energy began in Birmingham and quickly transitioned to Houston, Texas, culminating with a position at Riverbend Oil & Gas. Though not a native Texan, Kevin always deemed himself a Texan at heart, and considered Houston his home. Forever changed the day he met the love of his life, Kevin was a hopelessly devoted husband and loyal friend. Whether spending time with Catherine, winning money from his friends at the poker table, or simply watching his beloved Crimson Tide on the gridiron, Kevin always had a smile on his face and a warmth in his heart. He lived life to the fullest, and without regret. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. A memorial service is to be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2015, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston. Honorary pallbearers include Jeb Bowden, Matt Gordon, Adam Harbin, Philip Mullett, and Tobin O'Donnell, all of Houston; Nick Jenkins, Jason McCullers, Sy Schriener and Jared Sparks, all of Oxford; Scott Stillwell, of Tampa, Fla.; Bill Fowler of Huntsville; and Griff Israel and Louis Krannich of Birmingham. Should friends wish, the family suggests memorial contributions to Major League Baseball's Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities ("RBI") program, an initiative designed to promote the game of baseball to teenage boys and girls in disadvantaged areas.
