Funeral service for Kirkpatrick "Pat" McCurdy, 75, will be today, December 23, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Neale Lanigan and the Rev. Wayne Lester officiating. Burial will follow at Carmel Cemetery. Mr. McCurdy passed away Sunday, December 21, 2014, at his home. Survivors include his loving wife of 19 years, Wanda Tierce McCurdy, of Spring Garden; three children, Barbara Lane (Billy) and David McCurdy (Sheila), all of Piedmont and Todd Keasler, of Jacksonville; three grandchildren, Priscilla McCurdy, of Jacksonville, Justin McCurdy and Wade Horne, both of Piedmont; two chosen grandchildren, Nicolas Tierce and Kaden Tierce, both of Piedmont; one sister, Robena Hannah, of Bainbridge, Ga.; one brother, Ramon McCurdy (Frances), of Gadsden; brother-in-law, Otto Rose, of Florida and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Ted Acker, Dayton Boozer, Robby Dotson, Robert Jones, Darrell Sims and Randall Tierce. Honorary pallbearers will be Alton Tierce, Charles Tierce, Richard Tierce, Jerry Kiser, Hugh Kiser, Barry Kiser and Wayne Warren. Mr. McCurdy was born January 19, 1939 in Piedmont. He was a resident of Piedmont and Spring Garden all of his life. He was a U.S.Navy veteran, a member of Carmel Community Church in Spring Garden, was a licensed Emergency Medical Technician and longtime member of the Piedmont Rescue Squad and served as Distribution Manager at Springs Industries until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Hillman McCurdy and Mae Kirkpatrick McCurdy; three brothers, George McCurdy II, Maurice McCurdy and Paul McCurdy; three sisters, Ellen Cinq-mars, Ruth Chambless and Deane Rose.
