L. Travis Walker, 71, died Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Hepsabah Baptist Church with the Dr. Roland Brown and Dr. Stephen Dempsey officiating. Burial will follow in Hepsabah Cemetery. Visitation will be today, March 8, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. Dryden Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include wife, Eleanor C. Walker, of Heflin; son, Scott (Melody) Walker, of Heflin; grandchildren, Brayden, Austin and Ansley Walker; mother-in-law, Jessie N. Harris, of Heflin. sister, Catherine (Kenneth) Forsyth, of Heflin; sister, Dorothy Cook, of Heflin; brother, Johnny (Sue) Walker, of Alexander City; brother, Joe (Glyndle) Walker, of Heflin; fur baby and companion,Jackson; four nieces; seven nephews. Pallbearers will be Scott Walker, Austin Walker, Brayden Walker, Robert Watson, Charles Howle, Ronald Howle, Floyd Smith, Jeffrey Smith, James Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Ranburne High School Class of 1963. Travis is preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Lea Walker, of Heflin; sister, Marie (Robert) Watson, of Heflin, and Elizabeth (Kirby) White, of Heflin. Travis began his insurance career in 1962 working in Heflin, Altanta, Georgia and Birmingham before returning to Heflin in 1981 after purchasing Morgan-Genge Insurance Agency. The name was later changed to Insurance Resources Center. Travis retired in 2011 after 48 years in the industry. He loved to cook, shop for antiques and most of all, spend time with family.
