Larry Alton Summer, 63, passed away Thursday evening, October 9, 2014, at Baptist Hospital in Oxford, Mississippi. The funeral service for Mr. Summer will be held today, Sunday, October 12, 2014 at 3 p.m. at Hosanna Family Worship Center in Pope, Mississippi. The family will receive friends at 2 p.m. prior to the service. The Reverend Damon Plummer will officiate the service. Interment will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 13, 2014, at Plum Springs Cemetery in Eastaboga. Larry was born September 30, 1951 in Talladega to the late Alton Carey Summers and Lois Mitchell Phillips Summers. He worked as a HVAC mechanic and served his country in the United States Navy during his lifetime. His loving memory will be cherished by his wife, Tenita Roberts Summers, of Sardis, Miss.; 4 sons, Jesse Summers (Fawn), of Weaver, Danny Summers (Michelle), of Calera, David Summers, of Eastaboga and Stephen Summers, of Lincoln; 2 daughters, Brandie Plummer (Damon), of Pope, Miss. and Mandie Krey, of Hornbeck, La.; one sister, Carol Owsley, of Talladega; 3 brothers, Carey Summers, of Talladega, Toney Summers, of Oxford and Timothy Sears, of Talladega; 12 Grandchildren, Grason Langley, Payton Summers, Reagan Summers, Alton Summers, Hutson Summers, Haylei Bell (Nathan), Hillari Cobb (Joshua), Kourtney Norris, Aaron Norris, Joshua Krey, Nelson Summers and Grant Summers. Other than his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his sister, Marie Summers Gentry. Larry had many interest in life including fishing, playing guitar, riding on the pontoon boat and his favorite, watching the grandkids play ball.
