Larry Thomas Gable, 73, passed from this life Wednesday, May 27, 2015. Born in Anniston, he was the son of the late William and Elsie (Carter) Gable. Larry was a graduate of Anniston High School and Auburn University. Following college, he pursued his career as a professional baseball player. He was a pitcher in the minor league system of the Cincinnati Reds and the Pittsburgh Pirates for 11 seasons combined. After baseball, Larry served as assistant principal for Eastbrook Middle School and principal for Westside Elementary School where he retired from the Whitfield County, Georgia school system. Larry had also served his country in the Army reserves. He moved to The Villages from Georgia in 2002. His favorite pastime was watching Atlanta Braves Baseball. Larry leaves his wife of 46 years, Marlies Gable; a son, Mark Gable; of Murrayville, GA.; brothers, Gary Gable, Carter Gable (wife, Diane) and Rodney Gable (wife, Kim), all of Anniston; grandsons, Tanner and Rance Gable and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Dennis Gable and sisters, Joan Sprayberry and Joyce Gable. Services are private and at the convenience of the family.
