A funeral service for Mrs. Launa Brannen, 82, will be at noon on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at Lakeview Baptist Church in Oxford with the Reverend Jerry Starling and the Reverend Darrell Paulk officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service hour at the church. Burial will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. Mrs. Brannen passed away on January 20, 2015 at UAB Hospital. Mrs. Brannen was born in Cleburne County and spent most of her life in Oxford. She was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church for many years and was a member of the Faith Sunday School Class. She had also worked for General Electric and the Holiday Inn in Oxford. She was known as a very giving person whether it be a family member, friend, or a neighbor. She will be most remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved her children and grandchildren dearly. Mrs. Brannen is preceded in death by seven siblings, Yancey Wright, Lucille Howle, Herman Wright, Willie Mae Rascoe, James Wright, Sarah Whatley and Ross Wright Sr. Mrs. Brannen is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dr. Ralph N. Brannen, of Oxford; her daughters, Melanie Delker and her husband, Chuck, of Anniston and Melissa Brannen, of Atlanta; three grandchildren, Brannen Delker, Jacob Delker and Madeline Brannen; her sister, Ruby Cavender, of Cleburne County and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Brannen Delker, Jacob Delker, Roger Brown, John Meads, Landon Winfrey and Ross Wright Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Faith Sunday School Class and Jessie Knighton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Building Fund of Lakeview Baptist Church, P.O. Box 3281, Oxford, AL 36203. Online condolences may be made to the family at K.L.
