A memorial service for Mrs. Lavonne Austin, 84, will be today May 10, 2016 at Betta-View Church of Christ at 2 p.m. located on Hwy 78 Oxford Alabama. Lavonne's grandson Dr. Craig Reynolds and John Ross will officiate. The family will receive friends 1 p.m. until the time of service. Mrs. Austin died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday May 6, 2016. Crestwood Funeral Home announcing. Mrs. Austin was born in Oklahoma but relocated to Alabama where she met the love of her life in high school. They married and had five children. She was a woman of many talents including gardening, quilting and especially her wonderful cooking. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and friend to all and will be dearly missed. She is preceded in death by her parents, C.A and Eudora Rogers. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, John D. Austin; and children, David (Joan) Austin, Dale (Ted) Henry, Kathy (Phillip) Caldwell, Dora Childs and Jerri (Perry) Davis;10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; brother, Carol Rogers; sister, O'Teena Davis and numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Dr. Michael Hanna and the staff of Alacare Hospice.
