The funeral service for Lecroy Summerlin Teel, 77, will be held on Sunday, March 26, 2017, at 3 p.m. at Millerville Baptist Church with the Rev. James Allen and the Rev. Kenneth Neeley officiating. Burial with graveside Masonic Rites will follow in the Millerville Community Cemetery. Mr. Teel passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2017, at Grandview Medical Center. A native and life-long resident of Clay County, he was a 1957 graduate of Bibb Graves High School. As a young man, Mr. Teel learned from Mr. Joe Zeladonis how to work as an automobile mechanic. He worked for White Auto Sales then opened up his own garage. Mr. Teel also worked as a construction millwright, traveling for the Millwright Local #1192 and later on retired after working for Bowater Industries in Childersburg. Mr. Teel attended Millerville Baptist Church and was a member of the Ashland Masonic Lodge #356. He loved antique cars, attending car shows and "cruise-ins." Mr. Teel is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sharon K. Teel, of Millerville; his daughter, Suzanne Blankenship (Devlon), of Sylacauga; his son, Barry Teel, of Centre, and one grandchild, Linlee Blankenship, of Sylacauga. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil O. Teel and Mattie S. Teel. Pallbearers will be Charles Morrison, Mike Summerlin, Dwayne Martin, Tim Kennedy, Johnny Coker, Paul Hodge, Lowell Bowen and Bert Haynes. The family will receive friends tonight, Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland from 5 until 7 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Millerville Community Cemetery Fund, P.O.
