Funeral service for Mr. Lenton A. Bryant, age 96, will be at 11 AM on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at the K.L. Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville with the Reverend Jerry Starling officiating. Burial will follow in Moore Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Mr. Bryant passed away on Wednesday at Bill Nichols State Veterans Home in Alexander City. Mr. Bryant is survived by his wife of 68 years, Joan Prickett Bryant of Wellington; daughter, Myra Bryant Butler (David) of Oxford; son, Moses Bryant of Wellington; daughters, Marian Bryant and Martha Bryant Mitchell both of Wellington; grandchildren, Angela Kirby McElroy (Stuart), Shonda Borden (Joel), Nicole Kirby Shaddix (Jeremy), and Caroline Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Jonathan McElroy (Whitney) and Trevor McElroy; brother, Bobby Bryant; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, D.H. and Willie Bryant; siblings, Carl, Cleo, Cecil, R.C., and Joyce. Mr. Bryant was a native of Calhoun County and a lifelong farmer. He was veteran of World War II who served honorably from 1942 to 1945 on the U.S.S. Saratoga. He will be remembered for his love of animals and music, his home (which he built), and his sweet tooth. He was a gentle and kindhearted man who loved spending time with his family. Mr. Bryant was a well loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who will be deeply missed. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Amedisys, his caregivers, and the Bill Nichols State Veterans Home.
