Memorial service for Levis Boyd will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 12, 2015, at Dryden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lamar Davis and the Rev. Micheal Burgess officiating. Visitation will be Monday, January 12, 2015, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Dryden Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Ms. Boyd died Thursday, January 8, 2015, at her residence. Ms. Boyd was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Thomas Boyd. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Loyce Watson and cousins, Lamar Boyd, Freida Moore, Jane Lumpkin and Janet Vaughn. After graduating as valedictorian of her class, Ms. Boyd was offered a position with the Bank of Heflin, where her father was an original stockholder when the bank was organized. She held several offices, retiring as an assistant cashier and honorary member of the board. She was a native of Heflin and she was active in the religious, civic and cultural life of her city. She was a member of the Heflin First United Methodist Church, the Patrick R. Cleburne chapter of UDC, the study club and honorary member of the Cleburne Historical Society. Ms. Boyd was an avid reader all her life and a lover of music. She enjoyed her collection of favorite pieces and especially her piano, banjo and dulcimer. Traveling was a special part of her retirement. Heartfelt gratitude to special caregivers, Gail and Dorsey Crosson, Judy Murdock, Carol Sarrell, Ester Arrington, Joyce Barnett and Gentiva Hospice nurses. The family has requested no flowers.
