Linda Mary Konrath, 102, a long- time resident of St. Clair County for 65 years, died early Sunday morning the 27th of November at Brookdale Senior Living in Destin, Florida. Linda had just celebrated her 102 birthday. Born in 1914 in Rovito, Italy, Linda came with her mother and older sister by steamer ship to America through Ellis Island and was raised in Chicago, Illinois. She was preceded in death 30 years ago, by her husband, John Konrath, and 9 years ago by her daughter, Carolyn Konrath Poe, of Odenville. Linda was a 30 year Pink Lady Auxiliary volunteer at St. Clair Regional Hospital. In 1995, Linda was the Auxiliary's nominee for Pell City Citizen of the Year. She had been a member of various clubs and organizations in Pell City. In the 1950s and 60s she worked for the St. Clair County Extension Agency teaching classes and volunteering. Linda had been a member of the Pell City First Methodist Church. Linda will be missed by her family. She is survived by her grandson, Steve Poe, of Odenville and granddaughter, Laura Poe Howard and her husband, Keith, of Destin, Florida. She has three great-grandchildren, Jay Howard and his wife, Tess, of Destin, Fla., Sam Poe, of Odenville, and Ali Howard, of Destin, Florida. She had one great-great-grandson, Carson Poe, of Odenville; her son-in-law, Willard Poe, of Odenville, is now living in Destin; Linda's sister, Mary Bresowar, and niece, Susan Bresowar, both of Birmingham. All of Linda's family brought her great joy; she would never fail to tell you of her family. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at 10 a.m. from the Chapel of Kilgroe Funeral Home. Linda will be laid to rest beside her husband, John Konrath, in Valley Hill Memorial Cemetery in Pell City. Heritage Gardens of Niceville, Fla. and Kilgroe Funeral Home of Pell City were entrusted with the memorial service.
