A memorial service for Linda Phillips Carroll, 70, will be Monday, April 6, 2015, at 3 p.m. at the Angel Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Eugene Burgess and Tommy Reaves officiating. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service. Mrs. Carroll died at her residence on Friday, April 3, 2015. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Donald W. Carroll; two daughters, Tessa Carroll Sims and her husband, Donny and Leslie Carroll Chandler and her husband, Michael; her grandchildren, Lauren Taylor Cody, Aaron Scott Carroll Cody, Austin Drake Smith, Addison Carrolline Smith, Bethanie Chandler, Cameron Chandler and Landon Sims; a great-grandchild, Brooklynn Sims; her sisters, Mary Wergin and her husband, Michael and Martha Adams and her husband, Aubry; a brother, John Edwin Phillips and numerous nieces and nephews. Linda was a beloved wife, mother and sister. She was a 1962 graduate of Anniston High School and a 1966 graduate of Samford University. She earned two master's degrees in English and Special Education from JSU and taught 32 years in the Calhoun County School System. She also taught English at Gadsden State Community College. Linda loved teaching and loved children. A member of Angel Grove Baptist Church, she was a devout Christian with a deep rooted faith in Christ. She prayed and talked to her Heavenly Father continuously and shared the love of God with everyone, through her kind and loving spirit. She was loved by all who knew her and will be missed. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Sarah Phillips. Memorial contributions may be made to , 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
