Oxford - Funeral services for Mr. Linwood "Penny" Strickland, 82, of Oxford, will be today, November 8, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home and Crematory with Dewayne New, Chris Jackson and Jerry Starling officiating. Mr. Strickland passed away on November 4, 2013 at his residence. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Sue Snow Strickland; daughter, Caryn Hyatt (Kevin); son, Darryl Strickland (Marsha); grandchildren, Joshua Cupp, Kinley Strickland and Johnny Hyatt; sisters, Hughlene Law, Elois Bowen (David), June Biedermann (Fred) and Barbara Goodman, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Strickland is preceded in death by his parents, Wyatt and Bertha Strickland, and a sister, Frances Denson. Pallbearers will be Mr. Strickland's nephews and honorary pallbearers will be members of the Malcolm Hester Sunday School class. Mr. Strickland was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church. He loved Oxford Yellow Jacket football, but loved his grandchildren and family more than anything. Mr. Strickland enjoyed working 30 years with his friend E.U. Nunnally in downtown Oxford. A very special thank you would like to be sent out to the Amedisys Hospice nurses. Flowers will be accepted, but Mr. Strickland preferred that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Lakeview Baptist Building Fund. Miller Funeral Home
