The funeral service for Mr. Lloyd Ernest Hanvey "Shorty", 86, of Gadsden, will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Harvest Church of God with Bishop Jerry Irwin and the Reverend Brock Stamps officiating. The family will receive friends from noon until the service hour at the church. Burial will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. Mr. Hanvey went to be with the Lord on Christmas Eve. Mr. Hanvey served in the US Army and worked for many years at Gulf States Steel in the roll shop. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Albert and Thelma Jane and brother, Clayton Hanvey. Mr. Hanvey was a great joy. His life and legacy of faith will be remembered for generations. Survivors include his wife, Shirley; two children, Glendene Stamps and Lisa Hanvey; three grandchildren, Brock Stamps, Clint Stamps and Sumer Watson; five great-grandchildren, Luke, Owen and Ada Stamps, Ivy and Gabriel Watson; five brothers and two sisters.
