Born July 29, 1918 in Pinckney City, Ala. to Weldon Clyde and Velma White Minshew, she attended Judson College and graduated from the University of Alabama in 1940 with a degree in Library Science. Logene married her sixth grade sweetheart, Jim Snow Griffin in October of 1941. They were married for 61 years until his death in 2002. Jim Snow was an Army Colonel which led to a wonderful life of worldwide travel for them. They lived in Hawaii, Japan, South Korea, France and New Jersey but Anniston and Oxford were always home. Whenever possible they came back to visit family and friends. She served as head librarian of The Arlington School in Atlanta and later at Georgia Tech. They retired to Anniston in 1980 and lived an active, eventful life. Logene served as the librarian at Parker Memorial Baptist Church for over 30 years. She was a member of numerous social and study clubs and was passionate about growing roses. She grew and maintained over 120 rose bushes at her home. She loved the University of Alabama and loved nothing more than to give a good "Roll Tide" to all. She is survived by her sons, James S. Griffin Jr. and wife, Vaughan Lee, of Jacksonville, Fla. and Jerry Griffin, of Anniston and his wife, Asha of, Chattanooga, Tennessee. There are four grandchildren who loved her dearly, Kirby Harrison, James S. Griffin III, Jeremy Griffin and Michael Griffin. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
