Anniston - Crypt side services will be at 2 p.m. today, November 19, 2013, at Forest Lawn Mausoleum for Lois Howard Conaway, 84, of Anniston, who died Saturday, November 16, 2013. The Rev. Roland Brown will officiate. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge. Mrs. Conaway grew up in St. Clair County and was a member of Lawley's Chapel Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Jacksonville State University and taught at Chelsea Junior High School. She married James "Sonny" Conaway and moved to Anniston in 1949. She retired from the Calhoun County Commissioner of License Department in 1985. She was a member of Wilmer Avenue Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was the Sunday School Superintendent at Wilmer Ave. Baptist Church for 25 years. In recent years she was a member of the Grace Sunday School class at Golden Springs Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, James Conaway; son, Rod Conaway; daughter-in-law, Donna Conaway; grandchildren, Lee Conaway and Ginny Conaway; sister, Frances Gunter; nieces, Diane Wood and Sherry Lackey. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Golden Springs Baptist Church flower fund. Pallbearers will be Lee Conaway, David Naugher, Turner Gunter, Eric Davis, Jim Lackey, Bill Wood, and Sean Wilson. Special thanks to Delta Home Care and Gentiva workers for the loving care they provided while she was homebound due to her illness during this past year. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 today at Forest Lawn Mausoleum.
