Funeral service for Lowell "Pops" Benefield, 81, will be today at 2 p.m. at K.L. Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Center Chapel in Jacksonville with the Rev. Alton Parris and Rev. Hollis Martin officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12-2 p.m. prior to the service. Mr. Benefield died Friday, December 28, 2012, at Jacksonville Medical Center. He is survived by his wife, Mary Helen Benefield; a daughter, Susan Bragg and her husband, Mitchell; a son, T.D. Ray Jr.; four grandchildren, Joshua (Meredith) Bragg, Zach (Jodi) Bragg, Beth Ray and Ty Ray; four great-grandchildren, Emily Key, Jamie Key, Gracie Bragg and Emma Bragg and one great-great-grandchild, Bryson Key. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Dawne Key. Pallbearers will be Joshua Bragg, Zach Bragg, Doug Whitfield, Gary Snider, Zach Benefield and Wesley Benefield. Mr. Benefield was a US Army Veteran and retired from the Anniston Army Depot. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather.
