A Praise Service for Mrs. Lucy Jane Lee Denson, 75, will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at Golden Springs Baptist Church with Dr. Roland P. Brown, who was like a son to her, and Dr. Michael Williams officiating. The Reverend Jim Wilburn will lead the music. Burial will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Mrs. Denson went to meet her Loving God at 9:35 p.m. on April 27, 2016, at NE Alabama Regional Medical Center. Lucy was a graduate of Oxford High School. She went on to graduate with degrees in Chemistry and Biology from Jacksonville State University in 1963. She taught school for several years and last taught Science at DeArmanville Junior High School where she attended as a student in her younger years. Lucy was a member of Golden Springs Baptist Church. She served in the early beginnings of the Prayer Ministry and also served as the Church Librarian for many years. She loved her church family. Mrs. Denson is preceded in death by a son, Thomas Elbert Denson, who passed away in 1970. She is also preceded in death by her parents, James T. and Amzy Gamel Lee. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Oliver L. Denson; a daughter, Tamara E. D. James and her husband, H. Lee James; a brother, James E. (Eddie) Lee and his wife, Martha Lee. Pallbearers will be Dan Blackstone, Mike Alldredge, Philip Denson, Lewis Elliott, Bobby Burns and David Naugher. Flowers will be accepted or memorials be made in memory of Lucy Denson to the Library Fund or the Prayer Ministry Fund at Golden Springs Baptist Church, 3 Robertson Road, Anniston, AL 36207. The family wishes to thank each person who has prayed and assisted them through many trials and tribulations. God bless each of you.
