Lynn James Mercer, 77, died after a long battle with multiple illnesses in Cumming, Ga. on Sept. 1, 2015. He is survived by his daughter, Dawn Bromwell, of Ga.; his son, Blain Mercer, of Fla.; his grandchildren, James Kramlich, of Ga., and Nicole Dent, of N.C.; his great-grandchild, Karmen Dent, of N.C., and many other family members. He is preceded in death by his dear wife, Hazelean Mercer; his mother, Leona Mercer; his brother, John Mercer and his sister, Mary Mercer as well other extended family members. Lynn was a strong man who was loved and respected by his family, friends and peers. He had two careers; in the Army for 20 years (2 tours in Vietnam) and another 20 years with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. He retired as a drug and alcohol counselor. His memorial service will be held Sunday, September 20, 2015 at 1 p.m. (CST) at the Anniston LDS Church, 1217 Lenlock Lane, Anniston. He will be laid to rest with full military honors in the National Cemetery in Canton, Ga. at a later date.
