Funeral service for Mr. Marion "Buddy" McCard, 79, of Oxford, will be held on today March 24, 2015 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home with Dr. Sam Cash officiating. Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. on the same day. Burial will follow at Dogwood Trails in Oxford. Mr. McCard passed away on March 21, 2015 at RMC. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Janice McCard; daughters, Selina Lankford (Steve), Donna Thomason (Allen); grandsons, Scott Willis (Amanda), Cody Thomason; granddaughter, Kristi Rushing (Matthew); great grandchildren, Payton Willis, Walker Rushing, Anna Kate Rushing, Gabe Rushing, S J Willis; brothers, Vernon McCard (Jeanette), Nathan McCard(Laverne); sisters, Nell Jackson, Faye Stancell (Dearl), Shirley Ellison, Myrtle Phillips (Billy), Joyce Freeman(Gerald); a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by parents, Jim and Gussie McCard; sisters, Jean Brown and Reba Turner. Scott Willis, Cody Thomason, Payton Willis, Danny Phillips, Trent Jackson, Matthew Rushing, Steve Lankford and Gary Thomas will serve as pallbearers. Mr. McCard loved fishing, the outdoors, watching NASCAR and watching his grandson, Cody, race. Spending time with his daughters and grandchildren was one of his favorite pastimes. He loved everyone he met and they loved him. He was known to so many children as Paw Paw Buddy through his wife's in-home daycare. He loved riding in the mountains and found peace in that. He worked at Lee Brass for over 51 years. Mr. McCard was an avid Auburn football fan. He was a simple man who was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
